Possible water damage on iPhone 5s?
Ok so I went hiking and I didn't have pockets, so I put my phone on my side between my shorts and skin. The hike was difficult so I ended up sweating and I totally forgot my phone was on my side instead of my backpack. As gross and stupid as it may sound, I think my phone has possible water damage from my sweat. However, the screen is still responsive and fine yet the home button does not work when I press it. However the fingerprint scan still works. Will putting it in rice help?
You can try putting it in rice which may help a bit, but unfortunately the home button situation is very hard to fix. This happened to my sister's ipod. She dropped it off of her bunk bed and the button got stuck. This is because the thing under the button has been moved out of the way. Can you still press the button? If you can't then this is the case, but if you can still press the button and it just simply isn't working then you will just have to ask at an apple store. Hope i helped a little bit
Were you having problems with the home button before as well? It seems odd that you'd have water damage, even if you were sweaty, as most Apple products are very well made. Putting it in rice certainly won't hurt it, so I'd give that a try. Also, if you're still having problems with the home button, I'd recommend just going into an Apple store and seeing if they can help identify the problem. Hope this helps!
Don't put it in rice, it will just harm it in the long run, if you really think there's water damage take it to the nearest cell phone repair shop and they can fix it, as for the home button they can fix that too but it's not from water damage
My wife had a water proof case on her phone, and while in Vegas taking pics with friends in the pool they realized one of the flaps was open. The WORST thing you can do is to try and turn it on apparently, so I took it out of the case and dried it off. Put it in rice for two days while she let the whole ordeal completely ruin our trip. Went into the apple store and they said there was no hope. Yet when I plugged it in, it came on. But when I unplugged it, it came off. So i swapped batteries and my some miracle her phone seems to be working just fine now. Not sure this is your problem since your phone is powering up just fine. But you might want to give it a try perhaps? Change batteries or maybe just take the battery out? Then put it back in? Worth a try…
- Possible to fix side damage on iPhone? I once put my phone on my jacket on the basketball court, then when picked up the jacket my phone flew and landed on the concrete, bouncing several times. When I picked it up the screen was gone and the camera and everything else worked fine. But there was a huge chipped part on the top of my phone, right next to the power button. There was a huge crack on it. Is it possible to fix it at all?
- Possible iPhone water damage? I knocked a can of Dr Pepper onto my iPhone and it mainly went onto my screen however some of the liquid might have somehow got into my charging hole or earphone jack. It's being about 5 minutes and my phone is fine, however should i take any precautions like putting it in rice just incase? Or because it's fine should I leave it?
- Possible iphone 5s water damage? Alright so i put my phone (speaker/outlet thing down) into a cupholder today and there was water in the bottom of it and now my phone turns off and won't turn back on any time i hit the sleep/lock button. Does this sound like water damage? If it does, do you know how i can fix it/dry it out? If it doesn't, do you know what might be wrong with it?
- My iPhone 4 suffered heavy water damage, will it be okay? I went in the pool with it not realizing it was in my pocket. I was in the pool for about 5-10 minutes before I realized it was in my pocket. It was on when I went in the pool but was off when I got out. I now have it sitting in a bowl of rice and I plan on leaving it in there for a week, changing the rice it's in every 24 hours. Does anyone have any insight on this, like if there's any hope of it being okay or is it done for?
