Pros and cons of jailbreaking? - 1

Hi, I'm looking to jailbreak my iPhone since I only have less than 2 months left in my contract and I figured, why not? I've been reading up about it and I've heard the term Cydia and Evasi0n used a lot and I remember Cydia vaguely from when my dad jail broke his iPhone 2G. I would like to ask, what are the pros and cons? And how do I go about doing it? I'm a terrible newbie, so please put it in non-tech speak as easily as you can! (yes I've heard about the reduced battery life but my battery's already *** up, so what's the point?)

Warranty is void, its morally wrong, causes all sorts of problems in your phone/I pod. And for what? To steal a couple of $ from hardworking app developers and musicians who deserve the money?

Pros, all the add ons are sweet
Cons, could brick the phone or other small things

Cydia is the name of the jailbreak's "App Store" (the name of the software that unlocks your phone). Evasi0n is the program on your computer you use to jailbreak your phone and install Cydia.

Pros:
free apps
more customization/personalization
widgets

Cons:
significantly reduced battery life
instability/prone to crashes
voids Apple's warranty (they will not fix a jailbroken phone)

Pros: more customizable, more apps to download, more tweaks

Cons: makes it very slow, shorter battery life.

It is not morally wrong if you don't pirate apps. There are things to do in jailbreak that don't involve stealing.
