Random numbers calling me?

So ever since I upgraded my phone to a iPhone 7 with my mom and aunt about 3ish months ago, i've been getting calls from random people here and there. But in the past month now I've been receiving one phone call every. Single. Day by different numbers at the same time of day. Around 9:50 am. It creeps me out just thinking about it honestly. Why are these people calling me at the EXACT SAME time of day? Everyday? And why different numbers every time? It's annoying because when I try to sleep it wakes me up each time, I go to answer, and it's either an automated voice of some random company or nobody talks at all. I haven't changed my number for the last year or so, so I know that can't be it. I don't know how many numbers I've blocked now from this but I really want it to stop.

If you've had the same number for the past year, think of where you may have given that number out in the last six months or so. Have you used it to sign up for anything online? Have you given it out when you opened any new accounts? If so, the company you gave it to has sold it and once that happens you either just have to keep blocking or change the number. I have the exact same issue with Comcast (or a company calling themselves Comcast); different numbers, same automated call, never leaves a message (I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number). They know people block them, that's why they call from different numbers.

Here's a tip I use: Get a Google Voice number (it's free) and have it forwarded to your phone. Only give out your real phone number to people you personally know (friends, family). Any time you have to give out a phone number to sign up for something, give them the Google Voice number. That way you can still get the call if they need something, but if they sell the number like this you can easily change the number without having to change your real number.

You could start by having your real number changed, but since you'll probably be given a number that used to belong to someone else you might find yourself getting just as many calls for the previous owner of the number. I'd suggest just continuing to block the calls. Eventually they'll stop but it can take a while to catch all the numbers. If it takes longer than a month or so to get the calls to stop then consider changing the number. In the meantime get that Google Voice number and start using that as I described and eventually it won't be a problem anymore.

Forget why the machines are dialing your number, block all numbers that call you that are NOT in your contacts. If your phone does not o this, find a call blocking app that allows you to do it.

  • Why is my iPhone randomly calling numbers? People always text me claiming I called them, yet it shows nowhere in my call log and I don't even have these people in my contacts.

  • Random people texting me what do I do? Today I got a random text from a group that had 2 people in it. They asked me if I was their friend(Jacob) who got a different number. Not only do I not know them I don't know who Jacob is. They are pissing me off because they keep texting me after I told them to stop. I have an iphone 5 and I don't know how to block their numbers. Should I call the cops or have them blocked?
  • On iPhones can you block numbers from calling you and if that s yes how? One of my old friends who I hate now is constantly calling me and it's super annoying and I hate her. Can someone tell me how to block her from calling from my iPhone or something?
