Recommendations for a new digital camera?
For my birthday in March I would like to get a new digital camera. I would like to get a camera that is relatively easy to use, as I don't know too much about photography. I would also like a camera with about 20 megapixels or more. I would also like to get a camera that has one of those apps so that you can sync your photos from your camera to your iPhone. This is key for me! I will be going to Europe this summer and I want to take nice photos and I want to be able to access them on my phone. I don't really have a budget in mind, but 400-500 dollars would be ideal. I'm open to looking at ones that are over 500 dollars though. If you've used the camera you're suggesting, I would really appreciate an honest review of what you think of the camera.
The easiest to use cameras are called point-and-shoot cameras because all you have to do is point and shoot.
You can find new cameras that can reach 20MP easily nowadays but you have to understand that MP or megapixels just tell how big or small the picture will be. It has nothing to do with picture or camera quality.
Real cameras don't use apps. Nothing we can do there. The more you work with it manually, the better.
Picture quality depends on how you use the camera. The camera is only a tool.
Your budget is good enough for a cheap dSLR. If you add just a tad more, you can get high-end dSLR features with this one.

If you don't know anything about photography, you can still use a dSLR like a point-and-shoot camera. Just set it to Auto everything.
Keerok gave you a good suggestion.
If that camera is too large then think about a Canon G9x compact which has a fixed 3x zoom lens.
If you want longer telephoto reach then the budget will have to go up so that you can get a Canon G5X compact.
A lot of people though just buy a travel zoom with a tiny little sensor. The downside is that it's not such nice image quality indoors or when its dull outside.
One of these perhaps?

if you look at the photos people take with one of them on flikr you might think it will suit you just fine eg.
That one has a 25mm wide angle which is more helpful for architecture and mountains etc than the usual 28mm.
The camera you want needs NFC to send to phone quick and easy.
Sony a5000, will fit your bill and need.
Go with one of the Sony mirrorless cameras like the A5000, A5100, A6000, A6300 or A6500. Most of these have the ability to transfer images wirelessly to your phone.
The panasonic are good and the Wi-Fi enabled ones have a useful app.
You need to tell us more about your usage, and lifestyle.
Do you want a compact camera that will fit in a shirt pocket? Do you want a huge zoom? Are you indoors a lot? There's a camera to fit you, for that kind of money, a very decent camera with a large 1.0 sensor, or a budget DSLR.
Don't get hung up on megapixels. I stopped counting after 6 (A4 print) concentrate on what fits well in the hand, what menu you feel confident using.
- Why doesent my digital camera focus like my iphone 5s? My iphone 5s will focus up close and blur the background and stuff like that but my GE X600 won't do anything like that
