Restricting data usage in iPhone?

Tomorrow I leave for cancun but I want to bring my phone to listen to music and take pictures. Since it is out of the country I can't use any data at all or it'll charge a lot. I have my cellular data and data roaming turned off. If I also turn on airplane mode will that restrict All the data so I don't get charged?

Go to:
iPhone Settings>General>Cellular>Cellular Data. *You should be able to turn it off from there.

You can also just turn it on Airplane mode. When you do that, the carrier signal at the top should disappear.

You can turn it to airplane made but that turns off all of the phones antennas. Basically it won't receive any outside signal. This is good for a number of things, improved battery life and no usage of data or minutes are the most important. The downside to this is that nobody will be able to contact you in an emergency.

  • What counts as data usage on the iPhone 4S? So basically, I just want to know what counts as data usage. & also, if you have unlimited Internet, does safari still count as data usage?
  • Verizon iphone data usage Ok so on christmas i got an iphone 4. And today on 12/32/12 i got a text saying i used 90% of my prorated data.oh is that possible? I just got it. I try to stay on Wi-Fi when i'm at home. And can someone please just explain how data works and help me?
  • Unknown data usage on iPhone 4S? My family and I all have smartphones (all iPhones except one) and on our phone bill, it says that we're already at 6.7 GB, in 15 days… Looking further into it, I noticed that on each phone, data was being used every hour. Like anywhere between 1 and 19, 000 KB being used exactly every hour. Like 3 KB at 1:49, 15 KB at 2:49, 7 KB at 3:49 in the morning. KB's aren't a lot, but when you have 6 devices using KB's every hour, it really adds up.
  • Under settings on my iPhone, does the data usage include Wi-Fi usage? Because its stating a ridiculous amount and I've had my data off… And my Wi-Fi on. Does the total of data include the amount of Internet I'm using when on Wi-Fi? I'm so confused
