Running watches. So many choices?

I use Map My Run on my phone and listen to Pandora. I have a separate heart rate monitor watch (and chest strap) that I often wear. I have been thinking about getting an activity tracker to track steps, etc just to get myself more motivated, but I can't fine one that does everything I want. The Polar M400 does all that I want, but it's not a touch screen (not sure if I care that much about that though). I would love to find something that can have music as well. I feel like if I spend $200 on a watch that has gps and I can look at pace, etc, I also want something that I can have Pandora with. Otherwise I sill have to carry my phone and then I can just use Map My Run with my phone and get a cheap tracker with no gps.
Is there such thing as a good running watch that also has ability to play music? Are the Smart Watches what I should be looking at?

Added (1). I don't have an iPhone so apple watch not an option.
Do you really use the HR monitor when running? Is it beneficial. I use mine just to calc calorie burn the best. Can I assume I would still need HR for that with the gps watches?

I'm not an expert. But i had the same ideas you had. But five years ago. There was a motorola sports watch that could play music, the MotoACTV. I think there's a modern version. Anyway i ended up sticking my iPod nano in my pocket (you could also just clip on a shuffle) and i got a Garmin 305.
I also don't think the touch screen is important.
Pandora would require a cell phone connection. So that doesn't seem reasonable for a watch. But a watch with a small amount of memory could play a mp3 playlist.
If you don't mind running with your iPhone i would take a look at the apple watch.
but if you just want a device on your wrist i would stick with picking out a good GPS/HRM watch and adding a shuffle.
And if you don't mind just using your iPhone for runs. You could use the fitbit charge for everything else.

  • Two songs are stuck on my iPhone as alarm choices. How do I remove/replace them from that list? So I would appear to have a limit of 5 songs to choose from on this list. I see no way to directly delete songs. The list is full and when I add a song the song at the top of the list is bumped off. But that doesn't work for getting the song choice the iPhone already had on there* or the first song I selected for the list off of the list. Why? Can they be removed and if so how? *Apparently my alphabetically first song bought from iTunes
