SBG6580 constanly dropping connection?
I have a Motorola surfboard SBG6580 and it is constantly dropping connections. I have it downstairs in my living room wired to my internet TV, and it is wirelessly connected to my 2 Iphones, and my laptop upstairs.
Lately I have been getting very bad m/s pings and my son can't enjoy his gaming, nor can I watch my netflix on neither the wired nor wireless connections… I consider myself to be somewhat savy when it comes to solving problems and have attempted troubleshoot. I have tried making my network "closed" which did not help whatsoever. Yes the quality of netflix was way better but I was still experiencing drops in service. I have also tried disabling IP flood protection and disabling the firewall on the modem/router all together but that didn't do anything either.
Any help would be appreciated it is very annoying and we had this problem before I just can't remember how we fixed it… And it's back and worst than ever.
If that is the cable modem for your internet service and are experiencing frequent disconnects even through the hardwired connection, call your ISP as it is most likely an internet service problem or possible issue with the modem.
