Should I get a tablet for my trip?

Ok, so I have a macbook and an iPhone now. But I'm going to the UK for a month. I'm not bringing my laptop because I don't want it to break during travel and I'm not bringing my phone because I'm not paying for oversea charges. I'm going to have 2 plane rides around 8 hours each, train rides daily 1-4 hours each, and the drives to the airport around 8 and half hours. So I need something to use that has a long battery, I can watch movies, read books, keep a diary, upload pictures (my camera has a Wi-Fi connectable thingy on it), and contact family and friends through Skype or Facebook. I will have Wi-Fi the at the hotel. What would be the best option? I only have $350 at most, I don't really want to spend that much though.

I use my ipad on Plane trips all the time. I download torrents/movies using cloudload.com (they have a free trial) and once the torrent is downloaded to the cloud (not using my internet), I use an app called DOWNLOADS LITE to download the video from the cloud to my ipad. I don't know what I would do without cloudload.com lol

Use your iPhone, just make sure that you switch off data and limit your calling/recieving calls, you might even switch that off as well except for a few hours each day.
With your iPhone you can use Wi-Fi which is available in many places.

If you want a tablet, now it the time to buy one, but I guess you do not need it for your travel, your phone will do the job, as long as you remember to switch off all that will cost you money.

My husband and I have been traveling for 6 months and our tablet has been invaluable to us. We use it to read books on trains, edit documents, check email, play games, keep up with social media, etc. The best thing about our tablet is that I can put our confirmations for our plane tickets, hotel bookings, and even our train/ferry tickets, on it instead of printing it out. Most people who need to see confirmations for various bookings, are cool with looking on our tablet. We have a Samsung Galaxy one, the smaller size. It's an easy size to carry around but has a big enough screen for us to do most things on. We like it and I don't think it's too expensive, definitely less than $350 on Amazon.

I would use my phone. You can turn off the data and everything on your phone so it shouldn't cost that much. It will be cheaper than buying a tablet. Buying a tablet just to use on a trip seems like a lot of money to spend. Since you're going on a trip, instead of spending time looking at a piece of technology in your hand, look around you at a new place! Take pictures and keep a paper diary to actually write your experiences in. You can upload your photos from the trip when you get home.

Tablet only for your travel.

  • Which type of tablet should I get? I'm going to save up my money. I can't decide what tho. Its between iPad, Acer Laptop, or a microsoft surface tablet. The surface is more for school stuff, and thats okay because i already have a iphone and ipod for apple apps. My current laptop has a bunch of problems, but i really only use it to listen to music now. I'm trying to narrow everything down. Please give your opinions on the items
  • Which tablet should I ask for? So Christmas is coming and I really want a tablet but I don't know which one to ask for. I already have an iphone 5s so I don't need like a big phone. I would bring it with me all the time so it needs to be pretty portable but I don't really need something the size of a normal ipad. Any ideas?
  • What tablet should i buy for college? - 1 I have a Macbook Pro and an iPhone 5. That's why I was thinking of getting the iPad 5 when it comes out in the summer. But what other tablet is best for college? I was also thinking about the Galaxy Note 10.1 because of the pen… What about the Nexus 10? Powerful and cheap, but no stylus and laggy. Transformer Prime? Pretty good, I haven't heard anything horrible so far. Any other tablets?
  • What should I do on a road trip? Um apparently I'm going on a road trip from CO to Idaho… I don't really want to go I'd rather stay with my dad and hang out with my friends and not be excluded from their sleepovers, etc. Yeah I guess I have to go with my mom and sis. I hear its a 13 hour drive. UGH. Well my mom drives a Lexus RX 350… It's not like a big SUV its a little smaller.Um what should I do to keep me occupied? I have an iPhone btw. I really don't want to go:/
