Should I go with Sony or Apple?

My family and I have always been PC people, but I've recently been overwhelmed by Apple's advertising. I was wondering which I should get for the start of my university course: an iPhone 5 and a Macbook Pro, or the Sony Xperia Z and a Sony Vaio (or a combination of phone / laptop)?

Why? What are your reasons for your opinion?

Apple makes the best computers out there and PCs are just trying to keep up by releasing a product every month practically. If you are looking for a long lasting, high quality computer, then go with Apple. If you are looking for a PC then, it will most likely last a year and usually have an expensive, hard-to-fix problem that, with windows help, will take forever to fix and end up costing a lot of money.

I would go with Sony, as I think Apple is over priced…

I do not know much about Sony but I did have a vaio for a short time and absolutely hated it, with that said I have a MacBook Pro an iPhone 5 an iPad Apple TV (great toy for 100$ btw) and love every one of them! I have never seen any products that work so well together. If I do something on my phone it's on my computer on my iPad instantly which is great for school (I'm a full time student) apple used to be harder to use in schools and stuff because not everyone used them THAT'S WHY MOST PPL ARE PC USERS! But now more people are using them and apple has done a much better job at making them more compatible with everything they now even have word and PowerPoint and excel so it's awesome! Apple also has the amazing advantage that they don't get glitches and viruses like PC do my multiple Samsung and Motorola droid phones always started to get glitches and lag after a few months of use that's not the case with my iPhones my iPhone 4 and 4s are still being used by my sisters and are still running perfectly whereas my droids are in some recycling center I used to hate apple products until I sat down with them and saw how well they worked together and how much simpler life was with them… They are all made to work in sync with one another where there are so many droids and PC computers that they just aren't as in sync with one another GO WITH APPLE if you want to be happy

What are you going to be using the computer for (other than school ie word, excel, powerpoint.)?

Apple computers have a great reputation for reliability, hardware and software, and are very user friendly. You are also going to benefit from the long battery life that apple computers have if you are going to be using it on campus. They also have multiple options for word processing. For example, you can use Microsoft Office 2011 for mac or iWork (apple's productivity suite). Using the iPhone 5 along with your MacBook you can easily take advantage of Apple's iCloud services. With iCloud you get 5GB of free online storage and can easily sync your photos, contacts, notes.etc. Apple computers already come preloaded with iTunes (although still available for windows machines) so syncing your iPhone to your laptop will be very simple.

Windows based PC's are also a great choice. They are more cost effective for the hardware that you will get. For example, you can usually get a windows based PC with the same specs as a MacBook Pro for around half the cost. Also, with windows based PC's you will have more software compatibility along with more choices for hardware like graphics cards, more ram, better processors. So if you plan on doing more with your computer like gaming a Sony Vaio with a graphics card may be a better choice.

So in the end, it depends on what you plan on using your computer for and what is the best value for what you want to do. I also recommend trying both Operating Systems out before you purchase. See which one you are more comfortable with. That may be a big selling point.

Look at the thinnest/lightest tablet? Sony
lightest/thinnest laptop? Sony
widest color range on a tablet? Sony

i have taken many macbooks apart, to know there's almost no difference in hardware.
most macs run longer (on one battery charge) with win 7/8 installed, compared to mac-OS.
they don't even use high-quality brands (like asus) for motherboards/components etc.
besides:
they have been on the market for a while now, why do they still have only about 10% of the pc market!
and they lost about 50% of the tablet market to android (within the last 2y).
how, if apple has the "better/superior" product!

in short: if you are doing 3D rendering/music/video editing as your job, apple.
if not:
get alienware/sony or asus…

  • Why should i buy sony xperia z rather than Xiaomi Mi4? Both phones have same feature. But price difference is too much… Sony xperia z price is 45000 indian rupees and Xiaomi Mi4 price around 18000 indian rupees. So i'm confuesd… I confused only for repo of Xiaomi… So please clear that…
  • Which Camera to Buy: Sony WX350 or Sony WX220? I'm looking to purchase a camera for my upcoming vacation. I currently use my iPhone 6 to take all my photos and want something a little better. I have done some research and it seems like Sony makes pretty good cameras. The most important factors to me are image quality and price. I'm looking to spend $220 max. Please let me know which of the two you would recommend, unless you there's something else better.
  • Sony Xperia z3 compact VS Apple Iphone6? Which one out of these 2 do you feel is a better choice? hmm… That's not incorrect too. Iphones have got a reputation of their own… I love them personally. But the xperia z3 compact claims this tagline- "this phone is the nightmare to iphone6…
  • Sony Xperia Ion vs Apple IPhone 4S? This guy really wants to trade me, but first I want to ensure it will favor me. From reveiws it seems to be in my favor since both phones are in perfect shape. However, what are your opinions? And will my sim card go into the ion?
