I was on a crowded bus today?

Where a lot of people were standing up. But this one African-American fellow was sitting with his legs spread across two seats bopping to his iphone. Of course the mostly white passengers were too afraid to ask him to move. And he didn't have the common courtesy to scoot over. I felt like saying "it would be polite if you moved over so someone could sit down". But then he'd probably react in a negative way. My question is how does this reflect our attitudes towards African Americans? And how would you react?

You should have shot him when he wasn't looking and claimed 'stand your ground.'

He is just a person, try treating him that way

Don't pick on race. Some people are uncaring about the needs of others. Some people are brought up that way. A polite request might help them realize they could easily help others without any great loss to themselves.

Wow! You were on a bus today and saw an African American?

I haven't seen a bus in about 10 years now. None ever come through our town.

As for the African American, well, I haven't seen one of them for weeks either.

It's great living far away from cities and suburbs.

A Niger don't jig with two broken legs. Don't ask, It aint his bus.

Probably none of them wanted to sit next to him anyway.

If you had asked, that seat could have been yours.

You might have made friends and had a good conversation.

And if not, the white mob would have come to your defense.

I would not want to sit next to someone like that anyway. Black or white. Don't wast your time on people with no class.
