Sold a WORKING iPhone 7 plus on craigslist a month ago, now guy saying the phone is faulty?

So, i own a repair shop. The iphone needed nothing more than a new screen, so i changed the screen and met the guy at the at@t store and they did an inspection on it and said that the phone was good to go, next, a month later the guy calls me saying that the phone is faulty and has broken things on the phone, and if i don't refund him then he will be taking legal action. Is there actually something legally he can do? I don't know if he broke the phone now just wants money back? Things don't work like that… Could he sue me? Or would this be laughed at in court.

A month after the sale and following an inspection at an AT&T store, you have no real concerns here unless you knew something was amiss and lied about it (which I don't think you have).

Typical scam pulled by Craigslist buyers

He is bluffing, there's nothing he can do except in civil court (small claims), he wants to keep the phone and wants a refund as well

Next time he contacts you, tell him to go ahead and sue you, that should put an end to it

He hopes you will be so scared of going to court you will bow down to his demands and give him what ever he wants.

He is bluffing but if he does sue you be sure you attend and make sure you have any paperwork on it. I doubt he will pursue it any further when he finds out you are not intimidated by his threats. This is how these kind of people live, they threaten lawsuits and take cash instead

That would probably be up to the court to believe or not whether you knowingly sold a faulty product.

I agree with the others. The phone was tested, he took it, and has had it for a month. That's too long for him to be demanding a refund. Let him take you to court.

You certainly can't stop him from suing you, but there's no way he can prove it was faulty when you sold it if he waited a month to tell you about it. It would be tossed out of court.

Sounds to me like a bluff… He either broke it himself or he found a phone he likes better.

The cost of suing, and the stress, aren't worth it. If you think there's a grain of truth, offer to return part of the money.

You'll win in court. You have 3rd party verification [ATT] that the used phone was working

Anyone can be sued for anything but that doesn't mean they can win. Once the guy agreed that the phone was OK you no longer have responsibility unless he can prove you knowingly hid some defect from him.

The ONLY relevant information is he had the OPPORTUNITY to inspect the phone, and accepted it. Even 5 MINUTES later, he has ZERO legal claim unless he can PROVE you flat out lied.
Note: If you gave him the CHANCE to inspect the phone, and he didn't, he still has no case.

It was fine a month ago, and even inspected at the AT&T store. He has no case.
