How do i stop this expensive habbit?

I love my tech, i'm a student with a part time job, but the problem is i love to spend my money new smart phones, mainly i either buy the latest samsung or iphone. I currently own a iphone 7 plus, but i'm so tempted to get the samsung galaxy s8, how do i stop this habbit of always getting a new phone? P.S please do take this as a joke i'm serious

What I do is pretty simple, I don't get any new gadgets unless I sell one I'm not using as much. I like gadgets and always have, but I know my limits as far as what I can spend money on, and still continue to pay other bills. So my personal rule is, if I want a new camera, gun or electronic device, I have to get rid of something else first. And as luck would have it (for me anyway), in most cases the thing I sell, more than pays for the thing I want.

It sounds like you have a shopping addiction. You should go to Spenders Anonymous. The 12 steps really work.

There's a hole in some other part of your life that needs to be taken care of. Handle that and you'll be a much happier person who doesn't need to play king of the hill with his toys.

Plus, it'll probably cost money to do it right and you won't have anything left to blow on new phones.

Put your money in a bank, don't touch it. If that's too complicated, then get someone you trust (parent, sibling) to hold your money for you.

  • Will the iPhone 5 be significantly more expensive than the iPhone 4S? Basically, will the pricing for a new iPhone 5 be the same compared to the current iPhone 4S? Or do you think it will be more than the price of the iPhone 4S now? I'm contemplating just waiting for the iPhone 5 to buy a new phone but if it's going to be significantly more expensive than the iPhone 4S then I don't know if it is worth it.
  • Why is the iphone 5 more expensive here in Australia? Outright purchase of the iphone 5 64gb in Australia costs $999 whereas the US sells it for $399. Why exactly is this a huge difference considering that our currency is fairly close?
  • Why is the iPhone 4s way more expensive in Australia? I'm thinking of buying an iPhone 4s from Australia but I don't want to pay $600 more than I have to. Why is the iPhone cheaper in America? And can I get one off the American apple store and use it in australia? Any help would be great!
  • Why is the 64gb iPhone so expensive? The components are the same across all 3 iPhone 5 models so why would adding 64gb jack up the price so high?
