Switching from Iphone to Andriod?

So I switched from an apple Iphone 3GS to an HTC One. I disabled all the iMessage stuff. When its on it just says "Waiting for activation" I disabled my account on all other apple devices that I have. Problem is when my boyfriend tests me from his Iphone my new phone doesn't receive anything unless he turns his iMessage off. I have a bunch of friends who own Iphones and I can't ask them all to turn off iMessage for me. How the heck do I fix this problem? My carrier is At&t.

Not sure why it is not working. However this can be a workaround for all your iPhone users:

On their device
Settings>Messages>Send As SMS> ON

Also internet data is required when using iMessage

Good idea

  • Why isn't my iPhone 5 not receiving or sending texts to andriod phones? I just recently got an iPhone 5 (regular. Not 5s or 5c). I haven't updated to iOS7 yet but ever since I've gotten this phone it hasn't received or sent text messages to an android phone. I haven't tried calling yet so I'm not sure about that yet.
  • What's the difference between an iphone and the andriod version of iphone? They look identical except with the major difference in price - what are the advantages and disadvantages of the android version? Are they similar in ways? Which would be better?
  • Should I buy another iphone or a andriod phone? My AT&T contract is almost over. (July 23rd) so anyways I has the iPhone 4S and I was wondering if I should get the 5 or a andriod phone. Because the 5s I heard is suppose to be out in September and I can't wait that long. So which phone should I get?
  • Sending text from iphone to Andriod? I have the iphone5, ios7. I'm not totally sure if the texts I'm sending to one andriod user are going through. When I send the message, it sends as imessage and never switches to text message. Does that mean the message did not get send? Is there anyway to fix it?
