Taking the iphone international?

So I've been wanting to get an iphone for a while now, but I'm planning on moving to France at the end of the summer. I can't sign up for a contract here because I would have to pay for the next 2 years for a plan that would be extremely expensive overseas. Is there any way that I can get a monthly contract with an iphone without having to pay the full $550 for the phone?

Why don't you get a mobile phone contract and phone in France?

Otherwise, you can't get a month to month deal which is not really a contract for a partially subsidized (not full retail price) iPhone. No decent cell phone provider would give you an iPhone at subsidized price without a 2 year contract. Check for a used iPhone.
