Police have taken my computer, will I get it back?
About 2 months ago, I had police knock at my door and they arrested me on suspicion of possession of in-decent images, they then took every iPhone, computer, laptop, usb, cd's etc… Anything that can store media.
I did in-fact have videos of girls aged 15 to 16 (I'm 16 years old) on my desktop computer.
I'm on bail at the moment, and they want me to go back to the police station in August.
Will I get my computer back? I know they're going to find the videos, so will they take out the hard-drive, wipe the hard-drive and return it, or just not return it?
It's the most expensive thing I own (£950) and it took 2 years to save up for:/
Added (1). If they refuse to return the computer (due to it being evidence), can I claim that my hard-drive is evidence, not the actual computer it-self (i.e. The processor, the graphics card, the motherboard is not evidence).
I'm planning to write a book about espionage related to 9/11. The cops better leave my intellectual property alone. They need a warrant in the States, which means they need a valid reason. If they find those types of videos, they may decide to keep it for evidence if they chose to press charges. As with any advice, definitely seek the advice of an attorney.
It's evidence and will be kept until after trial (if there's one). Then they may give it back after the offending files are removed.
Why did they take it? Did they have a warrant?
It's evidence and if they definitely find nothing, they should return it. I say should… They quite often don't unless you nag them. If they find something and it goes to court, the court will, apart from any sentence, order destruction of the images, which means you won't get it back regardless of the fact that there's other stuff on the computer. Nor do they compensate you. The police are apparently allowed to commit legalised theft.
You will get it back -
but after 2 months you should be pushing them to either prosecute or return it, cos it don't take 2 months to find out if there's evidence on it or not.
- Why does my Iphone 4s have 6 gigs taken up by photos? I only have 860 photos on the entire phone and a few very short videos. I have checked the files in the DCIM folder to see if there were some in there that were not showing but there's only the 860 listed. I have no idea how 860 photos could use up that much memory. My friends Iphone has over 2000 pictures and only 2.5 gigs are taken up.
- Why can't I watch videos taken with my iPhone on my computer? I took some videos today with my iPhone 4s and I tried to watch them on my computer but it doesn't work. When I click on it, it just shows a black screen but I can still hear the sound. I tried to delete my quicktime and download the new version but nothing changed. I've also tried to watch the videos on iTunes but there wasn't any difference. I don't have a Mac by the way.
- I have lost my IPhone 4, so I have complained to the Police along with IMEI no? Is there any possibility that I will get my phone. How do they track with IMEI no. Anybody has any experience, pl.share your views, thanks
- How to get apps that were taken off the App Store back to ios 6? I got a new iphone 5 hoping I could get apps that were deleted off the App Store (that I bought) back (such as the semi fake display recorder and mctube) but I have not found a way to get them back. When I go to purchased and not on iphone, they aren't there. I remember when I bought the items and they are not in the history to download. Why is that?
