Today my dad upgraded to an iphone 10, and because he has the forever iphone plan he was able to keep his old phone and he gave it to me?

I synced all of my apps and contacts from my old phone, a samsung, to the new one, when I texted one of my friends, I found out I was sending messages through my icloud address and I had no service. Is this something I'll have to call my carrier about to switch my number, or can it be done manually and from the phone's settings. If the it's the latter, what steps would I have to take?

If your dad did nothing to switch your number to the phone and neither did you, then you'll have to take some action.

- If you are not both AT&T customers you may need to have the phone unlocked so it will accept another carrier's SIM card.
- You may have to have your carrier transfer your number to a SIM that will fit the new phone. Apple uses Nano SIM, not much larger than the contact patch itself.
