Materialism is the source of our happiness?
I'm appalled by how successfully companies are brainwashing the public to buy their products. For instance, we don't actually NEED the newest iPhone or the trendiest clothes.
Women don't NEED to buy makeup and men don't NEED to buy a new car every two years.
I agree with you
Materialism is the source of unhappiness
because it makes us WANT what we don't actually NEED.
It's false happiness.
You said the truth. People think and behave as they are trained by some entity or other. For many, it's what TV commercials tell them to buy that sets the very tone of their lives. We go from being told how to think and act by peers in childhood and teen years to being told how to think and act by the next big boss in line after that. Pretty sad.
