Unlocked Verizon iPhone on straight talk?

My friend wants to buy my iPhone, which is unlocked and off contract, but its carrier is still currently Verizon. For him to be able to put it on straight talk, would he need to get a straight talk sim card to change the carrier, or what? How would we go about doing this.

Take it to the carrier so they can get the correct sim

Verizon iPhones are unlocked out the box, I have some that work on T-Mobile and various other carriers.

So it'll work on Striaght Talk

Straight talk is owned by TracFone which provides services such as straight talk and simple mobile

Staright talk uses Verizon, AT&T and T Mobile towers to transmit signal via a virtual network.

As long as the iPhone is unlocked it'll work

  • What SIM card should I use to put my unlocked Verizon Iphone 5c on straight talk? I just purchased a GSM unlocked Verizon Iphone 5c and am currently trying to put it on straight talk. I've purchased the BYOP kit from walmart and I know I need to use the nano sim but IIm not sure if I should use the at&t compatible SIM card or the T mobile? Or does it not matter? Any feedback would be really appreciated.
  • Unlocked iphone with Straight talk? What do you think about straight talk and unlocked iphone(from att)? Is it good choice? I'm having a hard time to choose the plan and carrier for my iphone. Any advice will help me a lot!
  • Unlocked iPhone 4S with T-Mobile SIM from Straight Talk? I want to get an iPhone and use it on Straight Talk's network. If I get an unlocked iPhone and get a T-Mobile SIM from Straight Talk (I understand I'll have to cut it down from a regular size to a micro size), will it work on the network? Obviously I don't want to invest $500+ in this and it won't work.
  • To use an AT&T iPhone 4S with straight talk, does it need to be unlocked? I'm going to switch my iPhone 4S over from AT&T to straight talk. I'm unsure wether the phone needs to be unlocked or not. Some blogs say it doesn't, some suggest it. I've had mixed answers from straight talk reps. I don't know what to think! Does it need to be unlocked or not to use the phone with straight talk?
