Unlocking iphone 4S effects for other gsm providers outside US

Brought a iphone 4S in US as i'm shifting to another country permanently i want to get my phone unlocked to all gsm connections outside US I will not install 3rd party apps just want to use an another gsm that's all. My question is what are the disadvantages of unlocking an iphone? I'm afraid my battery drains very fast and the os will be unstable is that so?

Unlocking a phone will not affect it whatsoever, so there are no disadvantages. Apple themselves sell them in this configuration (I own one).

  • Will Tmobile Iphone 5s Work With Other GSM Carriers Sim Card? I'm using Tmobile phone number, and I just get an Iphone 5s today from Tmobile, not from Apple. I wonder whether I can use this Iphone 5s with other GSM sim card? If not, do you know where I can find a unlock service for Tmobile Iphone 5?
  • Will no-contract iPhone 6 for Tmobile work on other GSM phones? I'm thinking of buying iPhone six with full price, without a contract. I understand that this will be sim locked to T-Mobile. How/when can I get it unlocked from T-Mobile? When I travel internationally not sure how this is gonna work out!
  • What providers support a Verizon iPhone 4? I'm leaving my parents plan and paying for my own phone, what other carriers besides Verizon supports a Verizon iPhone 4? I know companies like at&t make you buy a whole new phone to go with them.
  • What providers can I use my iPhone 4s with? I have an iPhone 4s currently connected with Sprint. To my understandings the iPhone 4s is CDMA and GSM compatible. So if I were to terminate my contract with Sprint would it be possible for me to use my phone with other providers such as Boost Mobile, NET10 and Straight Talk?
