Updating jailbroken iPhone 4s to iOS 7?
I would like to know an answer from someone who has tried it.
So I have an iPhone 4s which was jailbroken way before T-Mobile came out with iPhones. The iPhone 4s i have is Jailbroken to work with T-Mobile, but I haven't updated it ever since it was
jailbroken because I'm scared it'll messed up my phone. Can I update my phone now that T-mobile has iPhones in their company? Or do I have to directly get a new iPhone with a new sim card?
I don't want to try it out because i don't have the money for a new iPhone and jailbreaking it again will cost money because I don't know how to jailbreak a phone so that i'll work with a different phone company. I don't want to take my chances. So can anyone give me some type of answer? Is it safe to update even though its jailbroken to work with T-Mobile even before T-mobile had iPhones?
If you update the phone you will lose your jailbreak and also lose the ability to use it on T-Mobile.
Even though they do I phones now, yours is locked to another network.
Getting it officially unlocked is going to cost you money. Perhaps somewhere in the region of $50/£40. If you want to do it, make sure you find someone who can do it before update he phone. Also, the lead time is about 5-7 days, so you may be without a phone.
The jailbreak itself won't cost you a penny, they are always free and quite easy these days.
As of today, there's no jailbreak for iOS7 which is what you would go up to.
You can check here for updates on that http://www.isthereajailbreak.com
If it was me, I would pay for the carrier unlock. Then you don't need to worry about a jailbreak being available.
Hope that helps.
- Will updating (to 6.1.4) a jailbroken iPhone 5 on 6.1.2 brick it? So I'm updating to the beta version of ios 7, but first I need to uninstall my Evasi0n jailbreak and update to 6.1.4. Will just pressing the update button in iTunes brick my iPhone, or will I just loose the jailbreak? If this will brick it, what is the best way to go about restoring my iPhone?
- Will updating my iPhone apps affect my phone speed as how updating the Operating System (OS) will? Currently I'm using the iPhone 5s on iOS 8.3 I know if I were to update my phone to the latest OS I may notice some slowdown on my phone's performance, since it may not have the "muscle" to handle certain functions. Many apps now are optimised for iOS 9 and/or the 6th generation phones. Will my 5s' speed performance slow down if I update my apps? Will the app's performance slow down?
- Will updating from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 remove everything? I know that if you 'Majorly' update your iPhone it will erase everything from your iPhone like updating ios 4 to ios 6, but what if you are just updating your iPhone from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 on the same version, is there any difference or it will also remove everything?
- Updating jailbroken iPhone 4s iOS 5.1.1 to 6.1.3 help needed? Full story: I bought my iPhone off a friend, who previously got it on bill pay, but stopped paying the bill, so they disabled the phone. He got the phone jailbroken to bypass that, and now the phone is working properly, pay-as-you-go, but it is jailbroken. The phone will NOT work without being jailbroken. I was wondering how do I update it from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6.1.3? (Keeping in mind it NEEDS to be jailbroken to work)
