USB, Power Surge On Hub Port Problem?
I just got a new dell laptop for christmas and it was working fine, but for some reason when i try to plug in my iphone i get a message saying " A USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port. You should disconnect the device" now before i had no problems with this, it happen out of no where.
So i followed the instructions, it told me to unplug it and to press the reset button that was there. But none of this did anything.
Anyone know how to get it to work? I have 4 USB ports and none of them work for my iphone charger. And only one of them will work for my wireless mouse
Try updating the chipset drivers and the BIOS. You may download and install the latest version from the link below:
Note: While updating the BIOS, battery should be > 10% charged and AC adapter should be connected. Please disconnect any external peripherals connected to the system.
On the link, enter the system Service Tag and click on 'Continue'. Select the operating system and it will display a list of available downloads.
You may also try uninstalling and reinstalling the USB Root Hubs. The steps are:
1. Click on Start.
2. Type Device Manager in the search box.
3. Click on 'Device Manager' in the search results. The device manager will open.
4. Right click on > sign next to 'USB Universal Bus Controllers' to expand the category.
5. Right click on each USB Root Hub listed under USB Universal Bus Controllers and click on 'Uninstall'.
6. Click on 'Yes' on the security warning.
7. Once all the USB Root hubs have been uninstalled, close the Device Manager and restart the system.
Hope this helps.
- Why port forwarding on port 80? I have a foscam home security camera and it needs port forwarding on port 80 if I want to use my iphone to view it from outside. Surely enough, it works as soon as I open that port. But isn't port 80 open by default? Else how could I view http websites in the first place. I don't get it. It's already open so why open it again?
