Use AT&T iPhone 4S on T-Mobile network?

Let's say I get a phone upgrade on my AT&T contract next month, and I get an iPhone 4S. My contract is up in December and I don't plan on renewing. Could I take my iPhone, have them "unlock" it at the AT&T store because I've been a long time customer in good standing, and bring it to T-Mobile and use it on their network? If so, would it be able to pick up 4G speeds, or would it just be 3G? I don't have T-Mo LTE in my city yet but I'm really sold on the unlimited data, talk and text plan.

You can only get an upgrade when to renew your 2-year contract, so you can't just get an upgrade when you want for free.

  • Wi-Fi on iPhone keeps saying unable to join network (my network name)? How can I fix this! It's been like this for a week but it works on my laptop fine. I tried unplugging it for a few seconds, I tried resetting network settings, I tried turning my phone off then on again, and I know I'm typing it right. I even typed it in upper case AND lower case. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
  • What's the difference between off-network and on-network? I'm try to work out which is best for what I want out of the service.   • Reuse T-Mobile cut-to-use-for iPhone SIM card back to regular T-Mobile phone? Is that possible? My SIM card has been cut to fit on iPhone but I'm going to sell it next month to go back to regular T-Mobile phone. I still have the cutout piece from original T-Mobile SIM Card. Can I re-attach micro SIM to original T-Mobile card and use it on new T-Mobile phone, or would I have to buy the new SIM card and activate it again on pay-as-go-plan?
  • Looking for a way to evenly share network speed in a house network? So my problem is that I play games online, that need a good ping. Whenever anyone from any other computer goes to load a video on youtube in a high quality, it takes up all the speed, gives me more than 400 ping and just pretty much cuts everyone else out. Is there a way to share the network evenly between every user? Our download speed is about 6mb/s, so if we have 4 active users, i'd like it to share it like 1.5mb/s each.
