Using my iPhone abroad- Internet charges?
I'm going to Perth in Australia & Hong Kong next month. My iphone is with Orange in the UK and my internet is normally free. In both places our hotel has Wi-Fi so can I use my phone for free abroad in Wi-Fi spots? I don't want to get home to a massive bill.
Out of interest if I used whatsapp in non Wi-Fi spots to send a couple of messages to my friend in hong kong is this going to cost me a fortune?
And what buttons should I press on my phone to ensure the Internet is completely off when I want it to be? IPhone 4.
When you go overseas, your Internet will be on 'roaming' which costs more than normal because it's 'borrowing' from another network. I don't know the exact prices, but you can find out by just googling your provider and the plan you're on. From there, check out the details.
In order to turn it completely off, go to Settings > General > Network and turn off 3G and data roaming. That's how I do it on the iPhone 4S.
- Will I receive data charges for using the hotspot feature on my iphone? I would like to use the internet on my laptop during a road trip. Can I connect to the internet using an Apple iPhone 4? If I do so, will I receive data charges on my iPhone or will this use up my monthly allowed data as per my monthly data plan?
- Will I get charged for using my iPhone abroad? I'm going to Holland tomorrow and I was wondering if I would get charged for taking my phone with me? I'm on a pay monthly contract but it doesn't include roaming/ international things… I'm with the 3 network if that makes a difference… I won't be calling anyone or making texts but I'll probably be using Wi-Fi? Will I get charged just for taking my phone to a different country even if I don't use it at all? Any help appreciated, Thanks.
- Why does my iPhone still charge for Internet even when I'm not using Internet? So, I recently got a pay monthly plan with my new iPhone 4s. When i'm out and about I'm usually updating my twitter and Facebook account. But, when I'm put my phone down, 3G still says I'm using it and charging me. So do I have to turn it off when i'm finished? Or is there a much easier way?
- What's the best way to get internet abroad on my iphone 5s? Okay so i'm going to spain, majorca in july and the hotel dosent have Wi-Fi, i'm currently on a 4G pay monthly plan with EE and the abroad rates are really expensive, 500 mb for 25 quid! And i would probably use that in a day. Is there any cheaper ways to get internet while i'm there? I was thinking to get my phone unlocked and get a spanish sim card.
