Violated, did this stranger hack into my phone?

Someone from my apartments was kind enough to find my purse and hold on it. I had left it somewhere by the mailboxes.

My iPhone is password protected. However, when I looked through my photos randomly, I found a pic of him using my phone to take a photo of his daughter holding my purse.

I'm disgusted and feel violated. My phone is password protected, how was he able to take a photo on my phone? I'm very confused? I had all kind of personal photos and conversations in my phone. My phone and purse was missing for 25 min. This person knows nothing about me. I did contact my apartments to report this.

Did it really happen?

Oh boy

On MY iphone, you don't need to be "logged in" to take a picture. This is so you don't have to scramble to put in the passcode if you want to take a pic of something cool.

Doubt he "hacked" in. Does your street number have 4 numbers? He likely tried it and got in. Hacking isn't that difficult - it's mainly figuring out YOU and going from there.

Yes. Trust me.

You absolutely can't lock a camera on iphone 7

You can lock everything else but not the camera

Just Google, "How to lock camera on iphone 7" you will see you can't

You can use the iPhone camera when the phone is locked.

Settle down. As others have pointed out, he didn't need to "hack" your phone to use the camera. If everything else in your purse is intact, then he acted in genuine good faith. Thank him again for returning the purse, but mention the photo, and give him a chance to explain.

You can take pictures even while the phone is locked.

From the lock screen, just swipe to the left and the camera opens to take pictures or video. No hacking, no malicious intent, no horrific invasions of privacy, as it won't let you see existing pictures without unlocking it first.

If you swipe to the left on an iPhone on the lock screen, you can take photos without entering a password. I'm sure they took this picture with your phone as proof that they have your items and are holding on to them until you return.

Yes, it is weird that they went into your purse to find your phone, but surprisingly, most people look in purses if they are left behind in order to find an ID or a phone to try and contact the owner of the belongings that were left behind.

I wouldn't get too up tight about it. It sounds like it takes very, very little to upset you and cause a big problem. Just relax.

I'm positive they were not out to get you.

Take care

You must be a blonde from the south

  • What does it mean if a stranger takes pictures of you? So I was at mall today & I was eating at the good court & I noticed this guy was looking at me like A LOT. So I just ignored him & then I glanced at him to see if he was still staring at me & he had his iphone up & pointed directly at me & he was pressing the screen like 5 times then he looked at me & when he saw I was looking at him he smiled & then left. I don't know what he was doing but I hope he isn't a phsycopath. What does that mean?

  • If a stranger picks up a dropped sim card for an iphone can they access my photos? My boyfriend smashed his phone off a lamp post today with images of us and mug shots (lol) of me which i'm not too keen for people to be seeing. We went back later on to find a phone there with a sim gone. What exactly can they see of my boyfriends with just that iphone 5s sim? Also can we ever get those pictures back with no sim nor phone?
