Virgin Mobile iPhone 4S unlocking?
I bought my iPhone 4S in September on the Virgin Mobile network. I paid the full price for my iPhone, because I knew that Virgin Mobile was contract-free. I guess I misunderstood that contract-free does not mean unlocked. Now, I will be moving to Europe and was hoping to be able to bring my phone there and have it work, but it appears my phone is locked. Is there any way to get a Virgin Mobile phone unlocked? I would be extremely upset if the phone I paid full price for wouldn't work in Europe. Someone please help!
You are unable to unlock your Virgin Mobile USA iPhone.
Virgin Mobile USA phones are CDMA - that means they are locked to the network they are on - in this case - your iPhone is locked onto Virgin Mobile USA's network and therefore, can NEVER be taken off.
There's absolutely NO way to unlock your iPhone from Virgin Mobile USA's network.
I have Virgin Mobile USA. What I said above should have been what you found out before you paid full price ($649) for a locked iPhone.
You will now need to purchase a new iPhone to use in Europe, since your Virgin Mobile USA iPhone can't ever be taken off.
I guarantee if you go to the Virgin Mobile USA Facebook page and say the same thing they'll pretty much tell you the same thing. I guarantee it.

- Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile? I'm moving to Houston this summer and I'm looking for a cheaper cell phone plan. I talk, text, email, fb etc. I had virgin mobile back in 2004 and I love it and had no problem. I have a android galaxy s3 right now which I love but the battery isn't so great. I'm thinking about possibly buying an iPhone. What I'm really looking for is reviews on virgin and boost mobile. If you have any other cheap cell phone plan carrier suggestions I'm up for that too.
