with wat other people have said.

When i use face book

No, you can't use them because you won't have any kind of internet connection. "Airplane mode" is a mode used on communications devices to cut off all cellular and data signaling. Once you do that, you can't get anywhere.

You can read a book you might have stored on the ipad, listen to music (if you have it stored on the device), play a game, etc. Anything that has to connect to a network, you can't do.

You will be able to use any apps that don't require any sort of wireless connection, games and music should be fine, but no social network apps or anything like that.
Don't worry about completely powering off your devices during take off and landing, it has been proven that makes no difference to any instrument used in the plane (navigation, speed meter, etc.), however, the radio waves emitted from your device could possibly interfere with these instruments, which is why you must have airplane mode turned on. These rules won't be around for much longer though, as planes are now beginning to have built in Wi-Fi which passengers can access and use for apps such as facebook, twitter, instagram, etc., but of course you have to pay for them, which sucks.
:)

If you were to put your phone in airplane mode right now, you will get exactly the same things you get on the ground as you would in an airplane in airplane mode. Basically you will get whatever came preloaded on your electronics plus whatever you've downloaded.

On the iPhone, Airplane Mode turns off the phone's connection to cellular data networks, the phone app, and other related services. On the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, it also turns off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, if they are turned on.

Airplane mode turns off your wireless data, which means you can't call, text, or use internet. It basically turns your iPhone into an iPod. You can use any of the features on your iPad or iPhone that don't need internet connection. Most games work but Facebook won't. You also may have the option to use the airplane's Wi-Fi, but you have to pay for it.

  • What apps can you use on Airplane mode with an iPhone? I'm flying out and I'm mostly wondering if you can read books and the iTunes U if the programs are already downloaded. I don't want to Kill my battery either.
  • Is it ok to use Wi-Fi in a plane with Airplane Mode? I have a question i'm going on a plane soon and i have a iPhone and i wanna use Wi-Fi on the plane the aircraft model is a Boeing 747 and i have heard bad stories that mobile phones can interfere with the planes system and cause it to crash!
  • If I use airplane mode with Wi-Fi, will it use my cellular data (iPhone 5c)? I have a iPhone 5c on AT&T and I recently got a text saying i've used 90% of my cellular data and if I go over they will charge me. If I use airplane mode with Wi-Fi and use apps such as snapchat, Kik, Twitter… Will it be using my data up? If not, how do I avoid using data but still be able to use these apps on my phone.
  • ONE BAR SIGNAL OR SEARCHING ON MY IPHONE 3GS IOS 4.1 AFTER AIRPLANE MODE? ACTUALLY my iphone 3gs is unlocked but sometimes shows no service, searching and now after i did the airplane mode trick it shows one bar signal… I have turned crazy gooogling over the net to find solution but every thing i did just sucks… An easy and fast solution will be highly appreciable!
