Way to stay connected to guest Wi-Fi?

So I've been having an issue where my phone won't connect to my routers regular Wi-Fi thing, so i've been connected to the guest that's set up to our router. And it's awfully annoying to have to type the password to the guest Wi-Fi every time I lock and unlock my phone. Is there a setting I can make so I don't have to keep retyping the password? I have an iphone BTW.

What a pity you didn't bother to identify your ISP, the make and model of your router, or whether it is a true guest Wi-Fi, or a Wi-Fi hotspot provided by your ISP which their customers can use when travelling away from home. Examples of such Wi-Fi hotspots are XfinityWiFi in the USA and BTWiFi in the UK. As these hotspots are not normally encrypted so anyone in range can connect to the Wi-Fi network. With these networks you have to identify yourself with a username and password to ensure you have legitimate access to the network. There's no way around it.

The real answer is to find out why the iPhone won't connect to the main Wi-Fi network. Assuming it is not a pass phrase issue, then it is probably a compatibility issue between your router and your phone. Incompatibility affects a small percentage or router/device combinations. In many cases it simply results in the connection being slower than it should be. In other cases, the device might not even detect that the network exists.

Log on to the router itself, and as a test, try disabling the encryption on your main Wi-Fi network. If this fixes the problem, then it is a compatibility issue.

You can try a different make of router or you can add a wireless access point to your network. My Asus laptop has problems with my main Wi-Fi network. I'm using a Wi-Fi Range Extender (TL-WA850RE) to solve my problem. The extender connects by Wi-Fi to the router and provides an extension network that works well with my laptop.

  • Why does my iPhone not stay connected to the internet? My phone is in a constant state of logging on and off of the internet and will not stay connected. I have an iPhone 4, I just updated to iOS 6, I've sync'd to iTunes, restarted my phone, turned off Wi-Fi and turned it back on, and even reset my home internet but nothing has fixed the issue. I'm also unable to update my apps, but thats another question. Anyone know what could be wrong?
