What are my rights when it comes to damage that i'm being accused of that i didn't do?

Okay so in our barn, my brother parks his extra car that he never uses. There's a pressure washer packed in there and i was going to use it to wash my car. There was so much stuff in there tho that it was a tight squeeze to get it out of there. However I know that my brother is a drama queen when it comes to his cars and stuff… And as I was going to grab the thing, I noticed a big scratch on the side of the car. And I said. "I know i'm going to get accused of this if I move this pressure washer" so I took a picture of it with my iPhone and I did not even touch the pressure washer yet. The pressure washer is in the background and the scratch is clearly visible.of course, my brother comes home, and accuses me of the scratch, tells our parents, they don't believe my story one bit, they refuse to look at my image as proof, and they are gonna make me pay for it or else my brother is going to damage my new car.

I DID NOT SCRATCH THE CAR.

what are my rights? Since i have PROOF. What should i do?

Added (1). I'm 18 my brother is 20

That isn't proof that is a picture that could have been set up after the scratch. It proves nothing, all it proves is that at some point the pressure washer was behind the scratched car. It is your word against his.

Well, you don't have any rights unless you are 18 or older. If that is the case then stop reading, there's nothing you can do. If you are at least 18 and you are one hundred percent it is not your fault, don't pay up. Your brother will have to take you to small claims court to get any money out of you. If you still have the picture, make sure it is save some where safe and wait to see if he takes you to court. If he does take you to court then you will both go in front of a judge to say both your sides, it is all up to the judge from there.

Right now its just your word against his, and he has not proof you caused it. He might be angry at your for awhile, but its not going to cause you any legal problems.

You have no "rights."

And, frankly, you could have just as easily moved it back after you scratched the car and then took the picture - so you have NO PROOF.
If it was me, instead of your parents, and you'd come up with some supposed iphone picture as your proof I wouldn't have believed you either.

  • What are my rights - went into shop, paid, but turns out I was mis sold the items? I went into a shop the other day with £350, spent the full amount on goods - paid via contactless app (iPhone). Turns out however that the payment was declined, but the cashier wasn't aware at the time and sent me on my way. A week has passed and a letter has been sent to my address stating that I haven't paid (this is how I found out) What are my rights to the goods? Obviously a good man will pay but is this their fault thus, without my resolution, they're out of pocket?
  • I purchased a faulty iPhone 6 what are my rights? I purchased the iPhone 6 on contract from three via their tele-sales. It's got a hardware fault with the speaker making it nearly impossible to hear calls. It's 4 days old. I want a replacement not a repair. I also need the replacement As soon as possible
