What can I do on a 256kbps connection?

I usually have 20Mbps connection but I'll be stuck with 256kbps for a while, what things would I be able to do with it, with minimal lag/buffering/loading times?

Added (1). Never-mind, I won't have to deal with a 256Kbps connection anymore, thanks for the answers though.

I would use a well reviewed User Agent for Firefox or Chrome. That way you can set your browser to identify as an iPad, iPhone, Android, &c. Then if you go to a website with an optimized mobile version. The page will load much more quickly as they are slimmed down and should be Flash free. Also use Adblock Plus (not some other adblocker) to further reduce data usage.

Personally I'd use Firefox. As you can also edit about: config. That way you can turn off features like prefetching and other bandwidth hogs. There are all sorts of tweaks you can do to reduce data usage in Firefox speeding up load times. You can open a browser and email people, use facebook or twitter to post but videos won't stream and it will take a while even to open a page especially if there are ads or images on it
there will always be lag and buffering, even 10 years ago when computers were slower and internet pages were not as elaborate that speed would have caused load time lag when opening a webpage or trying to open a video Only browse, that connection is like having dial up If you're willing to be patient, you could load up a whole Web page in about 10 minutes Watch 480p video.

  • Sound quality in 128kbps vs 256kbps in car stereo? I have a 16GB iPhone and my iTunes library is well over 30GB. I want to download all the music into my phone and the only way I can do that is by choosing to transfer the music as 128kbps (or 192). Will I hear a HUGE difference in sound (treble, bass, etc.) when I'm listening to my music in the car? My car has JBL Green Edge which is the upgraded stereo system for Toyota.
