What do I do if my iPhone 4s got wet?
I just accidentally dropped my iPhone 4s in my dog's water bowl. It was in there for literally not even 30 seconds. As soon as I grabbed it, I turned it off because I heard that if your phone is off the water can't damage the battery. Not sure if that's true or not. I dried it off and made sure to dry the opening where my charger goes, the speakers, and the headphone jack. I don't know if it works or not because I haven't turned it on. I read somewhere that I should allow at least 48 hours for the water to evaporate before turning my phone on. What else should I do?
Take a bowl of rice (uncooked) and leave the iPhone in it for a day or so. The rice absorbs the moisture that may be inside of the iPhone.
This is a ridiculous idea but try putting it in rice for 2-3 days but, check it everyday. If that does not work, take it to the place you bought it from so they can fix it.
Very sorry to hear! Leave it
completely off for at least 48
hours so hopefully the
components can be dried out.
One suggestion is to place the
iPhone in an airtight bag with
some rice to see help absorb the
liquid…
If the iPhone does not work after
this time, contact Apple for a
replacement, there will be a
charge for the water damage but
its better then needing to get a
new phone.
You can use the "Rice" fix as "Shadow" suggested. In a bowl of uncooked rice for a day or two. Or go to radio shack and buy cellphone rescue bag(don't know what it is called). Work on the same principle as rice fix. There are drying sprays on the market that can fix it if there's WD issue. I would leave that to a service tech to open your phone to spray it.
Apple will charge an arm & leg to fix or replace your phone.
