What do they sell in Chinatown NYC?
I'm going on a bus trip to New York soon and while we're there we're stopping in Chinatown. I know this place is known for knock off stuff like uggs and fancy jewelry and such. I wanted to know if they sell any knock off Apple products there like iPods or iPhones or Apple Macs. Also if they sell any good quality cameras. If you know of any other electronics that they may sell in Chinatown please let me know as well=) Also, if they have any anime stores with movies and books and such of anime series or mangas.
There's chinese food
Knock off apple products? You are asking to get ripped off. As far as buying any electronics, cameras or anything like that, stick to a reputable retailer. Don't buy anything like that on the street or some hole in the wall place. You'll get ripped off. Do research online for prices. You can get knock off bags and stuff like that in chinatown though. The way they operate now is they hang out in the street with pictures, you just point to the one you want and they retrieve it for you.
I'm not thrilled the way the knock off stalls have taken over Chinatown.
But at least the knock off bags have the feel of "Hey, I know it doesn't look exactly like the real thing, but the fact that it's a knock off, so that's part of the thrill!" (At least that's the tourist point of view. I wish they'd go to see the real Chinatown, but I know that's never going to happen anymore!)
But I would never, never, EVER buy knock off electronics. You are asking for trouble.
They sell souls.
Knock off electronics/Apple products = garbage with a logo. Why would anyone want to buy a knockoff iPod, iPhone or Mac? It's not about the logo, it's about the performance.
You can buy "grey market" electronics from most of the small camera stores throughout the city. These are actual items that are sold by unauthorized dealers and are either repackaged or without warranty. Less of a risk than buying a knock-off, but still a risk.
Buying counterfeit goods is wrong on so many levels from the unreported flow of cash on up. Including pirated designs.
If you do some work for me and I pay someone else, how do you feel? This is exactly what you are doing to the designers and manufacturers involved. There's a reason all this is illegal.
- What are my options if my laptop, iPhone or money gets stolen on the subway/NYC? I'm in college and I can't afford to get anything stolen. I have pepper spray as well. If something does happen, what should I do?
- Stores with great photo printing services? In nyc? So I got some photo prints from the kodak machine at Target and the quality completely sucks! Are there any stores you guys would recommend to get photo prints? My photos are taken with my iphone 5c which is where the photos are located.
- Can they get into the phone if they know the passcode when it's in lost mode? I had an iPhone with a passcode and it and it got stolen by someone I know. But they know the passcode to get in the phone. If the phone is in lost mode, can they still open the phone with the passcode? Or you you have to disable it through Find my IPhone? I won't report this person but I want to make sure they can't use the phone, even if they have it.
- NYC omny cards with no smart phone or credit card, what to do? They say metro cards won't be phased out for 3 years. I know someone that has an iPhone for work, but refuses to use it. Just has all calls forwarded to his personal phone. He will not use it for any apps, or even Uber when taking business trips (its set up with his business credit card). he also refuses to use credit cards except in extreme circumstances. will he have to join the 21st century, or will there be another way to use something like a metrocard?
