That's a very vague question!
Any $50 iPhone will be at that low price because it's either a non-functional parts donor or because it's so old that Apple no longer support it (original iPhone, iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4s and the 5/5c).
If non-functional then the answer to your question is obvious. If it's an obsolete unsupported model then it can no longer use the App Store and some preinstalled apps and others downloaded before that iPhone lost support will no longer work properly, if at all. So social networking would need to use the Safari browser making them awkward to use. Some sites will not work with the oldest versions of Safari because of updates to site security and because web designers often don't design sites for obsolete browser versions hardly anyone uses.
Your question would have been more relevant if you'd asked "What does an iPhone 8 do better than an iPhone 5s?" as the 5s is now the oldest supported model. But a mint condition maximum specification 64GB 5s is still highly usable.
Where can you find a $50 iPhone? I don't even think I saw used iPhone 5c for less than it cost to have an iPhone battery changed
I'd forget smart phones altogether. They are a silly fad to show off to others. Be smart be an individual and get a simple, regular cell phone and be a trend leader.
