What does archive mean on gmail (iphone)?
I just signed up with gmail on my iphone and i tried deleting some spam and i didn't see a delete button just an archive one, so i archived them. Are the messages erased?
Archive means categorising or keeping a set of mails in the archive folder… Once you archive it the mail doesn't list in the inbox… U've to click on all mails to view these set of mails… If you feel anyone else is reading mails from your inbox you can use this option to hide important mails… To use the option just select the mail and click on add to archive option the mail is archived!

NO, the messages are not deleted.infact they have been saved in another folder called ARCHIVE.
