What does sent as a text message mean?
So I sent a text to my cousin who is in basic training now in Missouri, we both have iPhones so usually me and her text on iMessage with the blue messages but this time it says "sent as a text message"in green, Did she get my message? I'm assuming she didn't she is in the woods basically, but I'm not sure? Oh and I know at basic they are very limited with the phone usage, so please don't comment on that =P
If it said 'sent as text' and didn't show a red error next to the text then it sent. But it could take some time before she gets it because she may not have service at the moment
Imessage is basically more of a "chat" application. If you got that notification it means that your msg went directly to their phone number, not necessarily through imessage. Either way the msg will get through…
"Chat" applications are great to have if you have weak signal but are connected to Wi-Fi. Even if you have no signal, you can still use Wi-Fi to text within imessage.

It means what it said. The message was sent as a text instead of an iMessage, likely because the recipient didn't have an internet connection at the time to receive it as an iMessage so the iPhone sent it as a text instead.

Note or a Reply or statement was sent thru a wireless connection and the internet system instead of a wire hard line thru a dial tonen

My message was being sent as an imessage, but I guess she wasn't receiving everyone of them, just getting the notifications that they were sent to her but she couldn't read them. I then responded to her, but it was sent as a text message this time and i have gotten no response. So, i've been using a iphone 5 for a month and i just realized that when i'm using sms, usually my texts send as "green balloons" but sometimes the color turns "blue"and says "sent as a text message" i'm confused lil bit:/ what does "sent as a text message" mean?
