What exactly is an unlocked iPhone? - 1
I want to buy an iPhone in Japan, but I'll return home next year. So I want to keep using it in Europe.
I googled this and they said it was possible if I buy an unlocked iPhone.
Do you know what this is? And do I have to do something special when returning to Europe?
One that's not locked.
A unlocked phone means it can support any gsm sim in any country
Unlocked just means it is able to be used on any carrier in the world vs locked ones which is just 1.
Other than swapping SIM between the countries, nothing.

- What exactly is the difference between iphone 5c and 5s? We can upgrade our phones again… Just wondering what exactly is the difference? Is it like the 4s where one has Siri and the other does not?
- What exactly does the iPhone backup back up? I'm going to update my iPhone software (finally!) and I'm worried that all of my data won't be saved. For example, will I have all of my notes, picture folders, app data, emails, etc? I'm terrified that I'll lose my notes. I can email them to myself if need be and there's really no way to back it up, but I'd like to aboid that tedious process if possible.
- What exactly can i do if i don't have a att upgrade available- iphone 3gs? I have an iphone 3gs. If i buy an iphone 4 from a friend, can i just change the sim card and have that phone, even if i don't have an upgrade from att until april? (i know the sim card sizes are different, but it is possible to cut it down, so i would do that)
