What Happeneds Now That The iPhone 5 Has Been Discontinued?

With the iPhone 5 i don't full understand what it means by its discontinued.
I know it means its not for sale & such.
Will they support it still or will there be no updates for it or anything like that.
Because i've been thinking about buying a iPhone 5 because they 5S is pretty much the same but costs more.
I don't want to get it if its been left for dead.
I just want answers and opinions about this & not people saying don't get a Apple mobile.
So will it still get supported & also why did Apple do this?
Is it because they would profit more from discontinuing and releasing 2 new models.

I like the iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 will still get updates and will still be supported. So if you can find a new iPhone 5 for sale, there's nothing to worry about from that persepctive. People are still using iPhone 4 and 4S phones with no issues.

However, the iPhone 5 and 5S are very different internally. The 5S has a much faster processor and GPU (and the processor is 64-bit; doesn't mean much today, but as 64-bit apps come along, it'll be huge), it has a better camera, and it has Touch ID (the fingerprint sensor on the home button). They may look about the same outside, but inside the 5S is quite a step up.

Hope that helps!

Yes they will still support it & update it of course. For instance the iOS 7.0.3 was released yesterday & the 5 like any other supported device got the update.

The 5s is the better buy & there's more to it than you may think. Just saying.

Since th 5c was effectively the replacement, why sell 4 models of iPhone? They chose to stick with their 3 iPhone plan those iPhones being the 4s, 5c, 5s.

It is no longer being manufactured for sale by Apple, but dealers who still have the iPhone 5 in stock can still sell it, and it will continue to be supported by Apple for years.

I'm not sure why Apple discontinued the iPhone 5. But that's the way it is.
