What happens if i stop paying my phone contract bill?

So I got an iPhone from virgin mobile. I was paying until I missed a couple of Payments so they sent my phone to a debt collecting company. I arranged with them on a certain amount a month but suddenly they stopped collecting money from my account and I when I call the company and quote my account number they say I don't have an account with them anymore. Haven't heard from Virgin or the debt company for months now so I'm just wondering have they forgotten about me or what? Also my phonr line was cut so I can't make or receive calls or text msgs. Not even to virgin mobile.

The service contact has been cancelled. Eventually they will sue you for the cost of the phone.

If the debt collectors stopped collecting and said you don't have an account then don't push it. If they call and start trying to collect again then you should comply, for now i would just wait.

It might be worthwhile digging out the contract that you would have signed with the debt collection company.

What you are looking for is has the debt become the "property" of the debt collection company or whether they were collecting on behalf of Virgin mobile. Beaware that it is possible for them to sell on your debt, but if that happens you should be informed - but if you've been paying what's agreed and sale of their debt should not leave you disadvantaged!

Virgin mobile, cut you off! What did you expect, you are using a service that youhave not paid for! You'll probably also have a black mark on your credit history which will prevent you from taking out a contract with any other mobile provider.

Can we surmise what has happened? I'd guess that only the part of your debt that relates to calls and the provision of service was passed on to the debt collectors, and Virgin mobile still own the title of the phone, and my attempt to collect that via a different route.
