What happens if i update my jailbroken iphone 4 to ios 6?

I have an iphone 4 and i jailbroke it and i'm wondering if i it still will be jailbroken? Will it still have all my stuff? Please tell me specific details thanks!

It will not be jailbroken, and all your jailbroken apps will be deleted.

You will lose the jailbreak and anything installed with installous and any tweaks or modifications made with cydia, thus forcing you to redo every step of jailbreaking and any tweak, mod, or download installed.

I had the same question, so I took the chance and tried to update it directly through my iPhone. But half way it said 'update failed'. The only way to do this is to:

1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes
2. Back it up
3. Update it
4. Restore backup
5. Wait for the iOS 6 jailbreak to be made

There's currently no jailbreak for the version. Give it a few weeks and it should be created. Alternatively, you can wait for the jailbreak to be created before going through the update process.

Hope that helps!

There's a jailbreak for ios 6 but it will only work on iphone 4 and 3gs right now.

I reckon the cracked apps will be deleted on phone, not from the hard drive. So we better backup the phone manually, and then restore those apps later when a jailbreak for iOS 6 is available.
