What happens if you backup a jailbroken iphone, ipod or ipad?
My friend had jailbroke his iphone, and I was wondering, what happens if you backup a jailbroken ios device to the pc? What becomes of it? Does the backup file become corrupted? Please let me know.
It backs up all the new data on the device such as any new music and things such as that. The backup will not back up any of the jailbroken data so the backup will work as normal if you ever need to restore.
However, as it does not backup any jailbroken data, any tweaks or apps that you have added through the jailbreak will not be backed up and so if you ever have to restore your device through a itunes backup, you will lose the jailbreak and all the tweaks you got through it.
