What has an IPhone 5 got that an IPhone 1st generation or 3gs doesn't?
I want an IPhone 5 but it's too expensive, I can get an IPhone 1st generation or 3gs but what's the difference?
If getting older phone then go 3GS, 1st gen is just too outdated today, or get 4 which is free with a 2 year contract.
Your carrier might be relevant to this discussion.
"I want an IPhone 5 but it's too expensive,"
That's adult decisionmaking for you - cost v.desire.
The original iPhone was not 3G capable; it relied on older and slower EDGE network technology. The iPhone 3G added that, and that's where iPhone was (network wise) until the iPhone 5 added 4G/LTE network connectivity. If your area doesn't have reliable 4G service, than a 4G smartphone isn't as smart an idea.
Newer iPhones have faster and more powerful components than older ones.
The iPhone 5 uses a different cable connector than older iPhones or iPods. Before the iPhone 5, you could pretty much use iphone cables and ipod cables interchangeably. I could hook up my son's iPhone 4 using the cable that came with my iPod nano 1st Gen. If you've got older accessories you want to keep, the iPhone 5 will require an adapter.
BTW, the iPhone 4 is available free with an upgrade or new activation at Verizon. Does your carrier offer deals like that? Is there any reason you can't wait for your contract to end.
The 1st gen iPhone is no longer made (since 2008) nor updated (since iOS 3.1.3). Most apps would not be able to run on it as they require iOS 4.3 or greater.
The iPhone 5 can
-record (HD) video
-take pictures with flash
-more precise movement tracking with a gyroscope
-4G connectivity
-better battery
The iPhone 3GS, still gets updated but will be the next iPhone to stop receiving updates.
Again it can take flash pictures & record HD videos, 4G connectivity, better battery, louder speakers, etc
Since 2008 when the iPhone 3G debuted all iPhones have had the same $199, 299, 399 prices. The 1st gen iPhone started at $499.
If anything I'd get the iPhone 4 which is available free on a 2 year contract from AT&T, Verizon & Sprint.
Same problem here.
But I think I found a solution
a friend of mine send me this link hope I can fix the problem with this help

Well one you won't be able to download any apps with the iphone 1. The 3gs is kind of older but you should still be able to download them. The iphone 5 has a flash with its camera as well as siri. The operating system is also more up to date obviously. I doubt you would be able to see a huge difference with speed between the 3gs and the 4g which the iphone 5 runs on
- What apps will work on the iPhone 1st generation 3.1.3? I just traded my iPod touch 3rd generation for an iPhone 1st generation. While thinking this was a good deal, I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to get any apps. This iPhone has iOS 3.1.3. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Also, if I jailbreak the iPhone, would this work to get all the apps I want?
- Thoughts on buying iPhone 1st generation in 2013? Not to use as a phone! (I have the OG Atrix for that) but as a collectors item/something that could hold alot more value in the future. You can get the original iPhone for 50-80 dollars on ebay in pretty good condition, do you guys think that buying a few of them to hold on to would pay off at all in the future (5-10 years from now) when people will begin to want them as collectors items? Or does it not really matter at all once they've been used does that make them junk?
- IPhone 3GS doesn't tell me when the message has been read by the receiver? I think I might have missed the update. If you think that's what happened would you mind telling me how to receive this update?
- IPhone 1st generation stuck on apple screen after powered on? The I phone doesn't go past the apple logo screen after it is turned on. What does that mean and how can you fix it? Is it expensive?
