What has better video quality Nikon d3100 or iphone 4s?
Thank you
Added (1). No, it isn't a joke. They both have video recording capability so I'm just wondering if the Nikon has better quality.
Is this a joke? The Nikon is a camera. The iPhone 4S is a cellphone.
Virtually any real camera on the planet has better video than any cell phone made. The main reason, the sensor size.
Are you familiar with 35mm film? Lots of people aren't these days because digital photography has virtually taken over. 35mm film has been the standard in Hollywood for about 90 to 100 years because the frame size is large enough to be projected with high quality on to a very large screen.
If the film were the size of the tiny sensor in any cell phone… Much smaller than a lady's pinky nail, you couldn't project it 10-feet without it looking terrible. Thus the larger the sensor the higher the quality of the video and still photos.
Does this make sense? So, any real camera does a much better job than any cell phone made.
The D3100 will have much better video quality. Why? Because the sensor on the D3100 is six times larger.
You will also get the added benefit of choosing the white balance and aperture values on the D3100. Or if you want you can let the camera do all the work.
The video quality on the D3100 is very good.
I have pocket sized digital cameras that take videos/photos of a quality that will embarass any iphone. My D3100 is even better.
Here is a visual representation of the sensor size of those two cameras
As you can see, the D3100 has a huge sensor when compared to the iPhone

Note the D3100 sensor is the same size as the D3200
- Why does my video have such bad video quality? I uploaded my video to the computer and it had great video quality, then I uploaded it to Facebook and YouTube and It looked horrible. It there anything I can do to change that? Save it a different way or something? I see all these YouTube videos that have been filmed by iPhone's and they have great quality. Shouldn't my 14mp camera have even better!
- Why does my iPhone receive good quality videos as bad quality videos? So I recently met a famous guy in concert and when I got a picture wth him I was getting a video and my friend used her phone to video it. So she sent it to me and it was like terrible quality and the video was like little with a huge black border around it. But yet it looks perfectly fine on her phone? How do I fix it? Whenever I try to get video editing apps it always says error & only with that particular video. I have an iPhone 5c, and so does my friend.
- Which is better for me. Nikon or iPhone? Okay, we'll I'm getting my sister something, actually. Her birthday is oh Christmas. My whole family is chipping in. & she really deserves it. She has been good, and works for her money. Also, double the gifts, the usual.So. She said she either wanted the iPhone 5 or the Nikon d3000. There both around 400 500 bucks. She takes pictures everyday of an iPod… But the camera isn't good at all. She is 12 turning 13.So which one should we get?
- Nikon D3100 video recording? How come when I'm recording video with this camera the recording isn't continuous. When you watch the video and people are moving such as waving, running or moving their mouths or heads there are small pauses that are constant. This is hard to explain but the video isn't smooth. It's almost like the camera is constantly adjusting itself, therefore all the video seems distorted. My iphone and my cheap sony camera take better video than this.
