I chose the 8 over the X as I thought it was genuinely better.

It does everything the X does at a lower cost, except for the lack of facial recognition and an OLED screen.

But the fingerprint-sensing Home button remains quicker and easier to use than the slow and clunky facial recognition, and I didn't have to re-learn a load of different key-presses to use to make up for the lack of a Home button. The 8+ also has a larger screen than the X, and doesn't have a nasty bite taken out of it. The X often has to display photos and videos at a smaller size as the X screen also has a different aspect ratio to all other iPhones (longer and narrower).

Finally, the X is distinctively different looking in a way that shouts to every thief and mugger "Hey, there's at least a £1000/$1000 phone here!" But the 8 looks much like the 6 and 7 so attracts less unwanted attention.

I decided to allow the early adopters to act as guinea-pigs and wait a year or two to see if the problems get fixed.

So what exactly is there that your current phones won't actually do? Both the iPhone 8 and the X are more jewellry with a phone built in than anything else! The only thing is since Ratner got the push most other Jewellery lasts longer than an iPhone!

The advantage is that Apple makes more money when you buy its overpriced new phone.
