What is the best way to transfer pictures from my iPod to my iPhone?

I recently purchased an iPhone 5 and would like to transfer my pictures from my iPod Touch 4g to the iPhone. I have tried photo stream, but am not sure if I'm setting it up right. I would like to know the best way to transfer 841 photos with the most simplicity. And preferably without buying software or an app.
