What's the best resolution for an app to support multiple devices?
I'm developing my first cross-platform game. I need a base resolution and aspect ratio in which to develop my game. I know how to scale it to work on most devices, but need a sensible base resolution.
I could do anything from the 320x480 old iPhone display to 1080x1920, but I want my first release to be on Android and I want most devices to be able to play it.
Uh, you don't want a single resolution, as I guess you probably know: don't use absolute positioning, rather use relative positioning and scale down your assets to native resolution.
If you need a minimum resolution for assets, take the largest screen size you hope to support and scale down for the rest of the devices.
Scaling down looks better than scaling up.
Generally there are several sets of assets:
One for larger screens, sized at at least the resolution of the largest target platform's screen.
Another for smaller screens sized at least the resolution of the midpoint.
Another for tiny screens sized a bit smaller.
Etc.
The goal is to never scale up, but don't down-scale too much. Too small and tearing will occur, or smoothing via the alpha channel becomes invisible and your image aliases.
I would give you numbers but I don't develop for mobile/don't know resolutions.
- Will iOS 7 support these devices? Will iOS 7 support these? - iPhone 3GS - iPod touch 4th gen - iPhone 4 - iPad 2 I'm really excited for iOS 7 beta 1 but I need to see whether one of these devices support iOS 7.
- Why is my Facebook account logged onto multiple devices? I was just randomly checking my account settings and was looking at devices that are logged onto my Facebook and it shows multiple devices, all from iphone 7plus which is what I have. This might be a stupid question, but wouldn't it just say iphone 7plus once if my phone is the only one logged onto Facebook? On my account settings, it shows 5 other iPhone 7 plus. Does this mean someone else is using my Facebook? I'm just really confused.
- What is the best bang for your buck video camera for retro style filming at 24 fps, 4K resolution, and no camera judder? Below $1,250? I use an anamorphic adapter lens for an iPhone 6s Plus(+filmic pro) and while the footage is 10 times better than basic iPhone footage, I can't help but notice the jerkiness of edged objects at 24 frames even when I'm holding the phone as still as I can. I've experimented with different frames, shutter speeds, ISO
- Sharing iTunes Between Multiple Devices? So I've had an iPod for the last several years and now my parents and I are getting our first batch of iPhones. All of my music in my library has been kept on one computer and the computer is getting old. I was wondering if we all 3 make new iTunes accounts, can we all 3 still get certain songs off of the main computer? All commments are welcomed!
