What's the most lightweight web browser?

IE and Safari both are out of the question - please DON'T mention them. I'm a Linux user and I can't use either of these browsers, even if I wanted to (which I DON'T).

I use Firefox and Chrome/Chromium regularly. Firefox is my first choice, but it can be a resource hog. Same is true for the other 2 that I've mentioned. I have no patience, so I'm looking for something that's relatively quick.

I use Opera regularly on my iPhone, but I haven't (so far), found the desktop version to be super-speedy.

I'm looking for something that I can open quickly if I need to look something up, check my email, etc., when I'm running other resource intensive apps. I will probably only use it in those specific cases unless I'm extremely impressed (I'm a huge fan of Firefox).

I've also tried rekonq (many people have never heard of this app), but I'm not really a fan of KDE and I'm not sure whether it works on other desktop environments.

Any suggestions?

Chromo is the best

It seems that it is a problem with recent versions of Chrome/ Chromium. The workaround I'm using is to close down tabs when not in use. Often keeping a single active tab open.

There are videos on youtube that are pretty good.
they should help you decide.

Extreme light weight is lynx, links, and elinks. They are command line but Links will load graphics. It is in the repos. I add an alias to the bashrc for fast access. Here is my alias:
alias browser='links2 -g www.duckduckgo.com/? Kp=-1&kf=b'

Try midori, can switch user agent to iphone also.

things which will also help:
- change swappiness

- install "preload", it will make thing load faster after they have already been used once in your session.
