What to bring for field trip to Central Park?

Next month my class (freshmen) is taking a field trip to central park and then to the metropolitan museum of art.we're taking a walking tour of central park and i'm not sure what to bring. I was thinking about taking a crossbody purse with my iphone, headphones, and other necessities you keep in a purse. We also have to bring bagged lunch and instantly I thought about bringing panera bread. Would that spoil quickly? Also, what are the best shoes to wear for what we're doing? Should I bring extra money?

It all depends on the weather. Since it will be May, I suggest not bundling up, BUT, May can bring cool weather, so here's what I would wear if it's COOL and RAINY:
Long pants
Your favorite, colorful tank-top or T-Shirt
A jean jacket
Boots
If it's SUNNY and WARM:
Capri pants (or shorts, when you wake up, decide based on the weather that day)
Your favorite, colorful tank-top or T-Shirt
Light sweater
Flats

No matter what you wear, bring a slightly heavier jacket along like a sweatshirt. I agree, wear a cross-body purse, and keep your phone, headphones, mints, chap-stick, and lots of money. I'm not used to Panera Bread food so I wouldn't know, but I'd suggest either bringing a thermos of noodles, or a PB & J sandwich. Don't forget a water bottle of the beverage of your choice!

When you get to NYC, keep a hold of your purse and stay with the group. New York is known for mugging, stealing, etc. You wouldn't want a gangster stealing your money while you're on a CLASS FIELD TRIP, would you?

A crossbody purse or small messenger bag would work well. Anything with meat, cheese, milk products, etc. Should only be kept unrefrigerated for 2 hours. So if you have a cooler, Panera would be ok. Otherwise, I'd stick with something that won't spoil. PB&J works well. Wear comfortable shoes. I usually wear running shoes if I'm planning to walk a lot. It wouldn't hurt to bring extra money.
