You can always find the best deals on eBay for something like a used phone. Just be careful to always read about the condition. You do have to be realistic on what it costs to get something decent, but there are deals out there if you look hard enough.
Someone on a project fi facebook group said Swappa was a good website to buy used phones but I haven't tried it.
