Where do I take my iPhone 5 if the volume down button doesn't work?

I got the phone like 5 months ago and the button has been broken for about 2 months but now that it's summer and I have more time for music/phone in general it's starting to make me very angry. So would I take it to the Apple store or the Verizon store where I bought the phone?

The white speaker thing didn't pop up. It's weird though, because I can shake my phone, and it rattles, and when it rattles into a certain spot, the - volume button works again.
