Where should I buy a used iPhone 4?

I'm looking at craigslist & ebay. I met with someone from craigslist and I checked the phone (looked for water damage, scuffs, if it connects Wi-Fi, etc).It looked alright and fine and he talked a lot about phones and my current one and I asked how he knew all this and he told me he worked at Verizon. He is selling the phone for $300! Just for the phone and charger and a rubber case. I think that it works well and if he scammed me I know where he works…

Then I'm looking on eBay and I know that they try to eliminate scammers. It seems cheaper on there but a lot of them do not mention if there's or isn't water damage, if it functions 100% correctly… Etc. But I have seen people on there win iphone auctions for around 200 with a charger and box and all that…

Opinions? The craigslist guy I met seemed alright I met his kids & wife, saw what he drives, know where he works, etc. But he doesn't want to give out his cell phone number so we keep communicating through email. & I find t weird that he is selling a used iPhone for $300 because he probably got it cheap from his work.

Don't buy it! You can find a Verizon iphone 4 way cheaper on eBay or just keep on browsing on Craigslist, trust me you can find a better deal!

I would check your local Craigslist. You can see the phone before you buy it and make sure it works properly while with Ebay you can't. It would be a safe bet to use a local buyer if possible. I try to avoid buying stuff like that offline.
