Which is more accurate: mirror or video? - 1

I look pretty decent in the mirror and I can take really nice close up pictures. But, a couple days ago, my friend videotaped me on her iPhone and I looked really bad. But, everyone else looked the same. Could lighting have something to do with it? Which one would you trust more? Pictures, videos or mirrors?

You're used to seeing your image in the mirror, but that's not how everyone else sees you. It doesn't mean that you look odd, it's just your natural reaction to the clash between how you really look and how you think you look which makes you feel that the video looks wrong or bad.

Mirror!

I heard its pic

There's never really an accurate answer to this, but I do think that pictures are out of the question. Some people just aren't photogenic, some people look different in pictures - be it better or worse! Some people pose in pictures where they look completely different. Videos are quite similar to how one acts in real life, but can be perceived differently and lighting definitely affects how one looks. Besides, perhaps during that video you weren't acting natural or maybe pulling funny faces? Different angles and expressions may also affect this. Mirrors can be accurate with good natural lighting, but otherwise not too much. Sometimes lighting seriously affects the way YOU perceive YOURSELF. Others may not see the difference. Out of all I think mirrors with GOOD NATURAL LIGHT are best. The light can be artificial but it has to be good lighting, like lighting behind you and above you, but NOT in front of you because that causes shadows, etc to form on your face (which is one of the reasons why you perceive yourself differently).

Video is the most accurate. A mirror is a reflection of you, whereas a video clip is the real you captured on film, therefore making it the more accurate of the two.

It didn't look "really bad" on your friend's phone, it was just unusual/weird because you are so used to your reflection and not your actual image in real life. That's the same with everyone when it comes to clips of themselves. "Do I really look/sound like that?":| Don't worry about it.

Today I recorded my face with the iPhone 4 camera and I looked really horrible. (X I laughed at how ugly I looked in the recording but now I'm worried. Is that how others see me or is the mirror more how other people see me?
